About This Project

Current research

Currently, I occupy a research position at the Biochem Lab working in a collaborative project with a major biotech company (Almirall). The project is based on the design and synthesis of libraries of small-sized cyclic peptides of potential therapeutic interest for the treatment of respiratory infectious diseases. We are near the end of a hit to lead program. at University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.

I am a biological chemist working at the interface between Chemistry and Biology. My interdisciplinary formation has provided me highly complementary expertise in synthetic chemistry and molecular biology. This background was extremely useful to work both in the development of a library based on hydroxylamine structures as potential antibiotics against several pathogenic species, and to develop a drug-discovery project focused on the identification of Mfn2 activators that could be used as a valuable potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, involving in in vitro and in vivo validation studies of the lead compound
